National Housing Trust and The Performance Institute Announce Partnership for Community Redevelopment Summit

Washington, DC – June 18, 2003 – The National Housing Trust announced today it will co-host The Performance Institute’s 2003 National Summit on Innovative Financing for Community Redevelopment, September 17-19, in San Diego, CA.

At the conference, community redevelopment leaders will share best practices to maximize funding sources, establish housing trusts and explore options to finance and rebuild existing communities. Attendees will learn how to maximize funding, utilize innovations in financing redevelopment, build partnerships, create a housing trust fund, and obtain redevelopment financing.

When asked about the upcoming Summit, Michael Bodaken, President of the National Housing Trust, said "We very much look forward to the Summit. It couldn't come at a better time. As state and local governments are sorting out allocation of their precious resources, we will demonstrate how federal grants and housing tax credits can be used to preserve affordable housing."

Carl DeMaio, President of The Performance Institute, added “With state and local governments facing budget shortfalls for the foreseeable future, it is vital that redevelopment authorities get creative and look for innovative sources for redevelopment funding.”
