  • Why is affordable housing preservation "green"? Preserving existing affordable housing costs less than building new housing and is energy and resource efficient. This fact sheet and short issue brief explains why preserving affordable housing is fundamentally "green".

  • Green Multifamily Preservation Initiatives by State. The National Housing Trust has identified state housing finance agencies that incorporate incentives for "green building" in their low income housing tax credit Qualified Allocation Plan. This is a work-in-progress and does not necessarily reflect the depth of any one initiative or the breadth of initiatives around the nation.

  • Green Preservation: Integrating Green Technology and Techniques in the Preservation of Affordable Housing. This brochure is a part of NHT's effort to encourage the integration of green methods and materials into the rehabilitation and preservation of existing affordable, multifamily housing.

  • Basic Green Building Orientation: Presentation to the Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies. This presentation provides a basic orientation to Green Building – describing the four general goals of green building, standards for evaluating green buildings, on-line resources, and funding sources. The presentation also included a description of NHT/Enterprise's experiences with green rehabilitation on both our Friendship Court and Galen Terrace projects.

  • Presentation to the U.S. Green Building Council's Conference. In November, the National Housing Trust presented to the U.S. Green Building Council's affordable housing session in Denver, CO. This presentation focused on the green rehabilitation of both our Friendship Court and Galen Terrace properties. This presentation provided the Trust with an important opportunity to connect  green policy efforts with on-the-ground development experiences.
